Abstract

Abs tract: Sepsis is a condition that threatens the patient's life and is currently among the main challenges facing in tensive care units. The reasons can be various - surgical procedures, antibiotic resistance, immunosuppressed patien ts, etc. Sepsis occurs in 1-2% of hospitalized patients a nd represents a significant proportion of cases in intensive care units. The diagnosis of sepsis remains difficult and uncertain. Finding the "ideal biomarker" will lead to early diagnosis and the most effective and accurate medical decisions. New bi omarkers are being sought for early diagnosis of this condition and to protect patients from developing septic shock and death. The aim of the article is to study and analyze biomarke rs-predictors of sepsis, their role in the diagnosis, prognosis and therapeutic behavior in patients with sepsis and septic shock. Materials and methods: The study includes a review of sources regarding the use of the latest biomarkers for sepsis diagnosis. Conclusions: Аlthough an indicator with 100% sensitivity and specificity has not yet been studied, the role of the Clinical Laboratory in the diagnosis of sepsis and septic shock is constantly increasing. According to modern studies, the most reliable marker remains: Procalcitonin, Presepsin, and recently, hopes are placed on Pro-Adrenomedullin - related to the severity and prognosis of the disease.
