Abstract

The system of residential services for persons from vulnerable social groups in Bulgaria includes various forms of support and care, which are aimed at improving the quality of life and social integration of these persons. The new services established in the course of the deinstitutionalization of care for the elderly and people with disabilities in Bulgaria are fully in accordance with the General European guidelines for the transition from institutional to community care, with the European Strategy for People with Disabilities 2021-2030 and with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). A family-type accommodation center for adults with mental disorders is a form of social service provision aimed at providing its users with the opportunity to develop personal potential, a chance for realization in society, building and improving work skills, creating and maintaining social contacts, supporting autonomy and independence, expanding access to the public environment.
