Abstract

In the collecting activities of museums or private individuals, it is always necessary to restore and complete the missing or damaged details of the exhibits. This also applies to smoking pipe collections. It often happens that the materials used in the past are morally obsolete or out of use, which necessitates the use of their synthetic analogues. In order to make an adequate restoration, it is necessary to study, examine and analyze what the shapes of the pipes were. This is done on the basis of old photographs or works of art depicting people smoking pipes, as well as preserved authentic specimens.
