Abstract

Munchausen syndrome refers to the group of factitious disorders, in which patients simulate or artificially induce symptoms of an illness in order to receive attention, care, sympathy and psychological support. Richard Asher suggests that the disorder be called "Munchausen syndrome", because like the famous Baron von Munchausen, the affected individuals have traveled a lot and their stories, such as those inherent to the Baron, are both dramatic and untrue. The study conducted among students aims to examine the awareness of respondents about "Munchausen syndrome". As a result of the survey conducted, a deficit of knowledge about the syndrome was identified and a training seminar was held - What do we know about Munchausen syndrome, as a result of which the respondents were maximally compensated for the identified deficit of knowledge about the syndrome.
