Abstract

In September 2015, the United Nations adopted the 2030 Agenda for Global Sustainable Development. This marked the first time that globally valid Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) had been agreed upon. The 2030 Agenda includes 17 goals and 169 targets to be achieved by 2030. The 193 UN Member States unanimously endorsed the document, entitled “Transforming our world.” The UN Sustainable Development Goals follow the Millennium Development Goals, which were adopted in 2000 and were valid until 2015. The SDGs still remain elusive.
