Abstract

The study examines the morphological transformations of contemporary Bulgarian under the influence of digital communication. Based on a corpus of approximately 200 linguistic units from social networks, forums, and blogs, it explores the adaptation of foreign roots, hybrid forms, and the expansion of derivational models. The analysis reveals that new affixes such as -вам, -ър/-ърка, -инг, and -че have become productive tools for integrating English borrowings into the Bulgarian grammatical system. Emoticons and emojis acquire morphological and modal functions, extending the boundaries of morphology. The research concludes that digital communication does not disrupt but enriches Bulgarian morphology, fostering creativity and linguistic adaptability. The paper contributes to understanding the mechanisms of morphological adaptation in Bulgarian digital discourse.
